TISCO’s rebuilt blast furnace 5 was blown in eight days ahead of schedule.

CISDI redesigned the furnace to its existing volume of 4,350 cubic metres while modifying the furnace profile.

The furnace has been operating for 12 years.

Reusing the existing furnace tower’s foundations, CISDI designed new dedusting units, changed the automation control system and some original equipment.

It now has a long campaign life and is operating to safer, greener and more efficient levels.

Rebuild followed a modular, sectionalised shifting method.

The blast furnace will be the best of its kind in China and will enhance the plant’s competitiveness.
