CISDI’s patented BDCD breakdown mill has successfully been hot commissioned at Baosteel Shanghai.

A feedstock slab in a cross section dimension of 320mm (width) and 425mm (thickness) was smoothly rolled into a bloomed bar of 220mm squares. All indicators met the designed targets, marking a highly successful refurbishment of the existing rolling system.

It will enhance the blooming line’s product quality and productivity. Bloomed products will further Baosteel’s competitiveness and share in the special steels market.

The blooming line was built in 1985 and was the first of its kind at Baosteel. CISDI was involved in the construction and over the decades has provided technical consulting services for the line’s optimisation.

The latest rebuild has applied the BDCD’s solutions, including the mechanical, hydraulic valve stand, electric drive and automation systems, all of which achieve world-class standards.

Highlights:

CISDI will remain onsite at Baosteel to provide technical assistance for its supply of a 6-stand rolling mill and cooling and finishing lines for the blooming line’s downstream.
